Problem Sets

Problem sets are typically due in two batches, both on Gradescope.

• Stepwise problems are typically due on Thursday night, 11:59pm
  • You must explicitly list out and annotate “steps” for your solutions. Follow the pattern:
  • StepNumber, EnglishWord(s), MathEquation(s), repeat.
  • The EnglishWord(s) should be a few words stating what is accomplished in the subsequent MathEquation(s).
• Regular problems are typically due on Sunday night, 11:59pm
  • You must show your work, such as you would on a test.
  • You do not need explicit steps and annotations for Regular problems.

Grading Rubric Explainer

• 4% out of 11% CE grade for Stepwise HW submissions
  • Stepwise HW problems are graded with three scores, with numbers like this:
    • “[Clarity] | [Accuracy] | [Logic]”
  • Max scores are “5 | 5 | 5”.
  • For example: “3 | 4 | 5” means 3/5 for Clarity, 4/5 for Accuracy, 5/5 for Logic.
• 7% out of 11% CE grade for Regular HW submissions
  • Regular HW problems are graded with two scores, with numbers like this:
    • “[Clarity] | [Correctness]”
  • Max scores are “5 | 10”. (Comparing to Stepwise, Accuracy takes over from Logic.)
  • For example, you might see: “4 | 8” in Gradescope. Thus clarity is 4/5 and accuracy is 8/10.
